Irish Senior Ladies Football Team

Sonya Hughes from Balbriggan plays for The Irish Senior Ladies Football team. The team was staying in Wexford over the weekend and Martin Fanning was there to take some photos. The team were heading off to play Russia on Saturday in Wexford. The match ended 1-1 and the team then headed to Bray to play Israel on Wednesday night when they recorded a 3-0 win. The interim manager of the Irish team Sue Ronan explained the two matches were the final games in the Ladies World Cup qualifiers to be played in Germany in 2011. Sonya has done Balbriggan proud once again. Sonya has represented Ireland at under 16 and under 18 and to date has 82 senior caps to her name. What a fantastic achievement for a young Balbriggan girl.
