About
the Balbriggan Branch of Irish guide dogs for the blind The
Balbriggan & North County Dublin Branch of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind
was set-up in 1985. It was set-up by Tom and Breege O,Neill with some friends
as a result of Tom getting his first guide dog - Frank. The
branch was set-up with the purpose of: - Raising
the profile of Irish Guides Dogs for the Blind in Balbriggan and surrounding areas.
-
To bring together like minded people to raise money for the Irish Guide Dogs for
the Blind.
- To
build a team of volunteers that would continue to raise money for the Irish Guide
Dogs for the Blind into the future so that other blind and visually impaired people
could get guide dogs.
-
To help and improve the quality of life for visually impaired and blind people.
To
date the branch has a database of over 300 volunteers who, at sometime during
the year, volunteer their time and support to promote and raise money for the
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. The
branch has a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, Public Relations Officer and a
counter box officer. There is also a committee of 12 members and the committee
meet once each month. Volunteers
are always needed and made very welcome while at the same time as meeting new
friends, having a good time we will be raising a lot of money for the Irish Guide
Dogs for the Blind. |
