Balbriggan Town Council and Balbriggan Chamber
of Commerce with the support of Fingal County Council are making a special effort
this year to promote Balbriggan during the busy Christmas Season by holding a
Christmas Festival over the weekend Friday 2nd December 2011 to Sunday 4th December
2011. The
Balbriggan Christmas Lights Committee, which comprises representatives of
the Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce, have traditionally arranged the
Christmas lighting and festivities. They are seeking to build on this very popular
community event by having a busy weekend of activities in the town centre.
Georges
Square will be a pedestrian friendly zone to accommodate the holding of a festive
Christmas Food & Crafts Market along with a variety of musical and street entertainment.
The Christmas festival will start on Friday
2nd December at 6p.m. with the launch of the Christmas Market followed by the
turning on of the Christmas Lights. COMPETITION! | The
very popular Christmas Lights competition is
underway again this year and one lucky child will be selected by an Cathaoirleach
of the Town Council, Grainne Maguire at 7 p.m. to turn
on the Christmas Lights and win a fabulous prize of an Xbox 360 Kinect.

Balbriggan
Farmers Market will also be operating on
Saturday 3rd December 2011. A significant attraction
for the younger members of the community on Saturday will be the Mobile Farm which
was a wonderful success at last years Christmas event.
In an effort to show the wonderful community spirit that exists in Balbriggan,
an outdoor Christmas Party has been arranged from 2
p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday 4th December 2011. Santa will be arriving at his
Grotto outside the Town Hall at 3 p.m. to welcome
the younger members of the community and will have some free gifts to give to
the children. A wonderful atmosphere of music and family entertainment is promised.
For those attending the festival, free parking
will be available at the Church Car Park and the Quay Street car park. ROAD
CLOSURES! | Fingal
County Council has made an order temporarily closing roads in the Balbriggan area
for the purpose of holding a Christmas Festival on behalf of Balbriggan Town Council.
The roads in question are Georges Square from its corner at High Street to the
Courthouse junction on Bridge Street/Dublin Street. For
